The Next Generation of Leadership: The TOMODACHI Generation

Building upon the initial TOMODACHI exchange program experience, the Alumni Leadership Program aims to continue to empower the young people of Japan and America with the experiences, skills, and confidence to achieve their dreams and contribute to a better world. We believe that the young generation is crucial to realize a better society and a strong, enduring U.S.-Japan relationship. With over 10,000 alumni (as of December 2023), members of this network are inspired to stay involved in U.S.-Japan issues, and are committed to becoming next generation leaders in their communities, and in society more broadly. Through the TOMODACHI Alumni Leadership Program, we connect, engage and nurture leadership skills in the youth and young professionals who make up this “TOMODACHI Generation.”
