TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2019 supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund: In STEP4, Participants Share Lessons To Young Peers at KIKKAKE LIVE

STEP4 of the TOMODACHI High School Women Career Mentoring Program in Fukushima 2019 supported by the TOMODACHI Combini Fund took place at Higashi Nippon International University’s Kamata Campus in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture from February 1 to 2, 2020.
On the first day, participants shared the lessons they learned from STEPs 1 through 3 and discussed messages, such as their future goals, to present to female high school freshman students the following day. High School Students from across Japan Reunite at the Follow-Up Seminar of the TOMODACHI Honda Global Leadership Program 2019
|
|
The Follow-Up Seminar of the TOMODACHI Honda Global Leadership Program 2019 took place from February 15 to 16, 2020 in Tokyo. The high school students who gathered from across Japan had participated in various kinds of leadership workshops, from the pre-departure program in June to the U.S. trip in the summer.
On the first day of the Follow-Up Seminar, participants discussed and presented on the diverse in leadership they encountered with the people and friends they met during their trip to the U.S.. The next day, participants took part in a collage workshop where they learned to visually express themselves through images. Announcing the New Regional Leaders of the TOMODACHI Regional Framework for 2020!

With support from the U.S. Embassy and Consulates across Japan, sixteen Regional Leaders and Regional Mentors, all alumni of various TOMODACHI programs, will lead the TOMODACHI Generation by creating opportunities for alumni to connect in region and tackle various challenges together.
The TOMODACHI Generation Regional Framework will support alumni engagement by furthering opportunities for alumni to connect with, empower, and inspire one another in their respective regions across Japan. Read More>>

Applications Open for the TOMODACHI U.S.-Embassy Go for Gold Leadership Program.
The TOMODACHI U.S.-Embassy Go for Gold Leadership Program is designed to play a crucial role in building a “TOMODACHI Generation” of creative and innovative leaders whose interests lie in the sports industry, and who possess the globally-oriented skills and mindsets needed to thrive and make contributions to the industry.
The program will bring up to ten (10) Japanese college students to the United States to for a two-week study program in New York city and Los Angeles.
-Study Tour in Los Angeles and New York in the United States (August 28 to September 14, 2020, including travel dates).

Applications are now open for the 2020 TOMODACHI-Mitsui & Co. Leadership Program!
Entering its eighth year, this exchange program provides participants with unique access to leaders in the U.S.-Japan arena and the opportunity to broaden their perspectives to enhance their professional fields. Ten American and ten Japanese young professionals will travel to one another’s countries for one week to engage as a group and meet with established, up-and-coming leaders from the business and government sectors.

Applications Open for the 9th TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program

Applications are now open for the 9th TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program!
This program is designed for Japan's next generation of leaders, to deepen the mutual understanding between the United States and Japan. It offers homestay opportunities and visits to various cultural sites and organizations, which may lead to future experience with study abroad, work overseas, or more involvement in international exchanges.
Up to twenty middle and high school students from the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake (Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima prefectures) will be selected to participate in this program. Participants will visit Los Angeles, California and its suburbs as part of the two-week program from August 6 to August 19, 2020.

Applications Open for the 2020 TOMODACHI Disability Leadership Program in America
|
|
Applications are now open for the TOMODACHI Disability Leadership Program in America 2020.
This program provides young Japanese people with disabilities a four-month training experience in leadership and advocacy in Boston, Massachusetts.
This four-month long program engages trainees in a spectrum of activities, including an intensive orientation to the program and life in Boston, an individualized internship with a disability-focused government or community organization, weekly leadership seminars, and English language training.

Applications Open for the TOMODACHI Summer 2020 SoftBank Leadership Program
|
|
Applications are now open for the TOMODACHI Summer 2020 SoftBank Leadership Program.
Launched in 2012, this program is now entering its ninth year. The program will take place from July 17, 2020 to August 8, 2020 (dates are tentative) and send 100 Japanese high school students from the disaster-affected prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima to the University of California, Berkeley, for an intensive three-week workshop focused on community-based projects and leadership development.

Applications Open for the TOMODACHI Honda Global Leadership Program 2020
|
|
Applications are now open for the TOMODACHI Honda Global Leadership Program.
With an expanded target that includes high school students and five-year junior technical college (“Kosen”) students from any part of Japan are eligible to apply. During this year’s program, selected students will have the opportunity to travel for about two weeks to Torrance, California and Marysville, Ohio, home to Honda’s headquarters and manufacturing base in the United States from August 15 to 29, 2020. Through exposure to American society and culture via interactions with local high school students and homestays, the Japanese students and the Americans they meet will deepen their mutual understanding of one another.

Applications Open for the TOMODACHI-UNIQLO Fellowship
|
|
The TOMODACHI-UNIQLO Fellowship is a scholarship program managed by the U.S.-Japan Council TOMODACHI Initiative. This scholarship program supports those who aspire to become globally-oriented business executives or fashion designers as they study abroad at graduate design schools in the United States.
Eligible applicants are those with Japanese nationality who have been accepted to either the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), State University of New York, or Parsons The New School for Design, School of Fashion (Parsons). The scholarship provides up to $90,000 for FIT, and up to $150,000 for Parsons.

The TOMODACHI MetLife Women’s Leadership Program (TMWLP) is seeking an unpaid intern. TOMODACHI offers an exciting environment for interns to be exposed to non-profit, corporate, and government fields. The main responsibility for the intern will be to assist the TMWLP Program Manager with logistical and programming support. This may include formatting, editing, and drafting documents, translation, website and database management, social media management, newsletter distribution, public speaking, communication with program participants, designing presentations and posters, and event planning.

The Program produces impactful and innovative programming for program participants who have experienced a TOMODACHI program to take the next step in their journey. We seek an intern who can assist the Alumni Manager and participate in various stages of engagement to support the next generation of leaders dedicated to the U.S.-Japan relationship. The intern hired for this position will need strong critical thinking skills and excellent attention to detail in order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team. Be prepared to work in our fast-paced bilingual and bicultural working environment. You will finish this internship having gained a broad experience in various aspects of project management, marketing, social media, nonprofit, public-private partnerships and civic engagement.
