High School and University Students Learn Entrepreneurship

From October to December 2020, 19 pre-seminars of the 10th TOMODACHI – Keio SFC Entrepreneurship Seminar were held, joined by a total of 599 high school and university students.

Funded by the Boeing Company, this entrepreneurship program was founded to foster next generation leaders who aspire to reconstruct, revitalize, and develop the future of Japan in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The educational program is for high school and university students, with pre-seminars held for 17 schools and organizations in 2020.

On November 19, 2020, the pre-seminar was held for Daiichi Gakuin High School Hamamatsu Campus in Shizuoka Prefecture, with 16 high school students attending. The students, who were already working on virtual enterprises at school, learned how to turn ideas into plans, build good revenue models, and present their business plans. One of the students commented, “I learned a lot of knowledge that can be applied to my idea and the seminar was helpful. I would like to realize my business plan.”

On December 15, 2020, another pre-seminar was held for 17 students studying business administration at Kobe University. After the students presented their business plans, the instructor gave advice on each plan. In the latter part of the seminar, a lecture on creating business plans, a skill required in many situations in society, was held and participants learned about business plans through the values that actual companies provide.
