TOMODACHI Initiative and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) are recruiting American high school students to participate in the 6th TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program!
Twenty students enrolled in high schools in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, San Bernardino and River Side Counties will be selected to participate in the 6th TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program. This program will send students to Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and the Tohoku region) for a two-week program from Saturday, June 24 to Sunday, July 9, 2017.
The program was established in 2012 with aims to deepen the mutual understanding between the United States and Japan and to invest in the next generation leaders.
During the program, the students will have an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, disaster preventions and readiness, sites of reconstruction in the Tohoku region from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The program features extensive contact with Japanese people through exchange programs, homestays, social activities, and exposure to Japanese culture and values.
Launched in 2012, this is the 6th year of this exchange program in which high school students have been sent to the United States and Japan alternately.

The 6th TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program is hosted by the U.S.-Japan Council and supported by the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. It is implemented by the Japanese Association of the Experiment in International Living (EIL) and the recruitment is administered by the Japan America Society of Southern California (JASSC).
