TOMODACHI Microsoft iLEAP Social Innovation and Leadership Program Post Program Presentation
On September 26, 2016, a reception at Microsoft Japan concluded the 2016 TOMODACHI Microsoft iLEAP Social Innovation and Leadership Program. At the reception, participants of this year’s program were joined by approximately 30 alumni who had participated in the program previously.
Representing this year`s participants, Yuna Miyachi and Yusuke Ono shared their perspective and lessons learned through this program. Miyachi commented, “Prior to participating in the program, I did not have many opportunities to talk about myself. After participating in the program, I realized the importance of getting to know myself and sharing my story. Furthermore, I learned that leadership potential is within ourselves”.
Shota Eda founded “TASKEYA” along with TOMODACHI alumni, Kiyakazu Tanaka who had participated in the TOMODACHI Toshiba Science & Technology Leadership Academy. “TASKEYA” is a business which provides a platform for promoting cooperation between people on the internet. Mr. Tanaka commented, “TOMODACHI has provided a network of alumni and has provided generous support to the foundation of ‘TASKEYA’. I am very appreciative of having the opportunity to meet and network with many people.”
Yoshiaki Ishii, Director, New Business Policy Office, Economic and Industrial Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry expressed, “I discovered that the participants of this program have gained valuable lessons by listening to these various presentations. I encourage all of you to put it into action.” and stimulated participants.
At the conclusion of the reception, U.S.-Japan Council Leader and Co-Founder & CEO of Smart Technology, Henry Takata gave closing remarks, stating, “I am very pleased that partnership of Microsoft Japan, TOMODACHI and iLEAP runs the program will continue to cultivate young entrepreneurship in Japan. I look forward to hearing about your successes in the future.”
