TOMODACHI alumni kick-off the New Year with Professional Development
Since 2014, TOMODACHI has increased its alumni leadership development through the generous donation and sponsorship by Prudential Financial, Inc. The purpose of the TOMODACHI Alumni Leadership Program is to expand the TOMODACHI Generation and build the leadership of the young Japanese and Americans who attended one of the TOMODACHI programming. The Alumni Leadership program consists of skills building training, networking and professional development opportunities, and this month, alumni had the opportunity to learn from Project Management Institute’s experts on key project management methodology in a Professional Development Session.
As we welcomed 2015, alumni from across 5 TOMODACHI programs from Fukushima, Iwate and Tokyo prefectures gathered at Venture Generation in Tokyo to learn professional project management taught by Graduate School Japan, a subsidiary of the Graduate School in the United States. The one and half day training included all the basics of project management, from start to finish, with samples from national infrastructure and corporate case studies, and ended with a brief completion ceremony where alumni received a certificate of completion. Alumni were able to work together, applying new concepts directly to their own projects.
