2nd TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program 2013 is Launched
On July 2, 2013, twenty-six American high school students and several teachers of the TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program from Southern California gathered at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo for an orientation and information session. After introductions were made, the students split up into two groups and were given a Japanese lesson and packets with useful words and phrases.
In the evening, MUFG hosted a reception welcoming the students and teachers from the TOMODACHI MUFG International Exchange Program. The students met with MUFG management and staff from the TOMODACHI Initiative, as they enjoyed Japanese cuisine such as sushi, tempura, and other Japanese foods. The orientation and welcome reception was first of many events that were planned for students to attend over the course of two weeks during their stay in Japan. They will be visiting several places including Sendai, Miyagi prefecture, Hiroshima, and Kyoto.
On July 3rd, 2013, twenty-six American high school students and several teachers gathered at the Tokyo American Center for a dialogue with U.S. Ambassador Roos. Students were given time at the end to ask the Ambassador questions, those which included questions about his job as an ambassador to the U.S. and things he has learned and discovered since coming to Japan. The Ambassador stuck around after the formal Q&A session and personally talked to the students, which they seemed to have enjoyed.
