TOMODACHI, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Announce New Leadership Program

 

April 8, 2013 – The new TOMODACHI-Mitsui & Co. Leadership Program inspires and motivates the next generation of young American and Japanese leaders to become active in U.S.-Japan relations.

This unique program creates a bilateral exchange of delegations between the United States and Japan. The delegations are composed of ten professionals from the business and government sectors who are active leaders in their respective fields and committed to addressing local, regional or global community concerns. The target age range for participants is 35 and younger.

The 2013 delegations will focus on U.S.-Japan cooperation in the areas of trade, energy, infrastructure, and technology.  The U.S. delegation will travel to Hiroshima and Tokyo in July, and the Japanese delegation will visit Seattle and Washington, D.C. in September.  Both delegations will have the opportunity to meet and engage with top and emerging U.S. and Japanese leaders from the business and government sectors.    

Reflecting on the importance of this new leadership program, U.S. Ambassador John V. Roos stated, “Bicultural experience and engagement at the professional level is not only important, but critical to furthering U.S.-Japan relations.  I am truly excited about TOMODACHI’s new partnership with Mitsui & Co., Ltd.”
