Hawaii Regional Event Recap

On January 10th, 2026, eight TOMODACHI Hawai’i Regional Alumni gathered and went on a walking tour of the Iconic Byodo-in Temple located in Kaneohe. While on the tour, alumni got to feed koi fish, explore the temple grounds, buy gifts from the gift shop, and socialize with one another while learning about over a century of history and tradition that make up the temple’s history and culture. Byodo-in staff were kind enough to also dress our attendees up in traditional yukata and temple-brand happi coats for a photo-opportunity in front of the beautiful temple and koʻolau mountain range.
