Tohoku Regional TOMODACHI Alumni Event: Disaster Prevention Workshop
We are excited to announce our first regional event of 2025, taking place in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture on February 8th! We’ve prepared two main programs for this special occasion, and we’d love for you to join us.
First, we’ll hold a disaster prevention program at Okawa Elementary School in Ishinomaki, a place deeply affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. We are honored to welcome Mr. Toshiro Sato, a storyteller and educator, to share his firsthand experiences from the disaster. This is a valuable opportunity to reflect on the memories of the earthquake, the importance of coexisting with nature, and the preciousness of daily life. With recent tragedies like the Noto Peninsula earthquake and growing concerns about the Nankai Trough, now is the time to revisit and strengthen our disaster awareness together.
Second, we’ll host a workshop at Captain Kangaroo, the best burger restaurant in Ishinomaki. While enjoying their delicious burgers, participants will explore and deepen their understanding of TOMODACHI’s history. This gathering offers a unique opportunity to connect across generations, from high school students to young professionals, fostering meaningful relationships within the TOMODACHI community.
We warmly invite alumni from all regions to come together and participate in this special event! Let’s share stories, ideas, and experiences that inspire us all!
