2024 Next Generation Launchpad
The TOMODACHI Next Generation Launchpad, held on October 29, 2024, offered young leaders and TOMODACHI alumni an invaluable experience, focused on leadership, networking, and career growth. Hosted before the U.S.-Japan Council Annual Conference, the event opened with inspiring introductions from Kaoru Utada and Ai Asakura. Roger Nozaki, Vice President for Strategy and Programs at the Barr Foundation, delivered opening remarks on “The Value of Networking,” emphasizing how connections shape opportunities.
The program included a powerful presentation by Max Malmud, TOMODACHI’s Hawaii Regional Representative, who highlighted ways to leverage one’s cultural identity in leadership roles. A featured Fireside Chat titled “Supporting the Next Generation” followed, where Michael Lerch, Founder and Global Chief Investment Officer of Evolution Financial Group, shared his vision on mentorship and supporting emerging talent. His insights resonated deeply with attendees, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with confidence.
California Regional Representative Arianna Santiago led an interactive “Networking 101” workshop, where participants learned practical networking strategies to prepare for larger conferences. This workshop underscored the importance of cultivating connections, enhancing self-presentation, and approaching networking with intentionality.
The day fostered a strong sense of community and collaboration among participants, empowering them to carry the TOMODACHI mission forward as they pursue personal and professional development.
