The U.S. Training for the TOMODACHI Boeing Entrepreneurship Seminar
From March 25 to March 30, 2024, the TOMODACHI Boeing Entrepreneurship Seminar U.S. training was held and five participants selected from among the program participants took part in the training program on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
The program emphasizes the perspective of “well-being,” a concept that comprehensively considers the betterment of individuals and society. Many of the projects that participants work on during the program also focus on well-being, and the training in the state of Hawaii was conducted with the aim of gaining hints for solving social problems.
During the U.S. training, participants conducted fieldwork to apply to their own projects, participated in beach cleanup activities and upcycling workshops, and had time to think about the natural environment surrounding Hawaii, the culture of living in harmony with nature, and the business environment from local social entrepreneurs. They also visited other institutions such as the Bishop Museum and the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and had sessions with guest speakers to learn more about Hawaiian culture and history as well as about business.
One of the participants reflected on their learnings from the U.S. training program as follows: “Through this training program, I realized once again how difficult it is to accept complex things. It is easy to judge something relatively good or bad, … but I learned how important it is not to stop there, but to somehow keep the will and steer the course. Even in Japan, where we are inundated with information, I would like to dive into new things while maintaining the kind of axis I felt this time.”
This program is made possible by generous support from the Boeing Company.
