Applications Open for the TOMODACHI J&J Disaster Nursing Program 2024
TOMODACHI J&J Disaster Nursing Program 2024 is now accepting applications from nursing students including graduate students and healthcare professionals!
This program aims to develop the next generation of disaster nurses through six-month training program providing students knowledge and skills necessary to become medical professionals with leadership skills that respond effectively to disasters and emergencies across Japan. Through educational initiatives encouraging students to use and share their learning to serve local communities across the country, the program strives to strengthen the field of disaster nursing in Japan.
The program began in 2015 targeting nursing students in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and later expanded to accept nursing students including graduate students from across the country due to the program’s earlier success.

Program Schedule
(1) Orientation and Pre-Training (June 2, June 15, and July 6-7, July 21 2024):
Online and in Miyagi Prefecture
(2) U.S. Training (August 5-17, 2024, Dates TBD):
In New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.
(3) Post-Program Training (September 1, September 15, October 13, November 10, November 29-December 1, 2024): Online and in Hyogo Prefecture / Final Presentation (December 15, 2024) online.
