TOMODACHI Goldman Sachs Music Outreach Program Participants Perform Music Show

    TOMO GS

On October 17 and 18, 2023, the TOMODACHI Goldman Sachs Music Outreach Program was held at Shogan Higashi Junior High School in Sendai, Miyagi and 98 third graders participated. Together with the cast members from HEART Global, an American non-profit organization, the participants created an hour-long show with dancing and singing.

The program cherishes the importance of saying “Yes, and” and try. Although some students were hesitant to perform at the beginning of the program, they gradually changed and started to participate actively after the cast members shared the importance of “Yes, and.” At the end of the program, the students performed the show. Approximately one hundred parents came to see the performance. After the program, one of the students said, “I was shy, but the energy that the cast brought got me going, and I had a lot of fun!” One of the teachers at the school commented, “We wanted to have this program at our school so that the students can learn to express themselves. The final show was truly an outpouring of emotion by the students. It was moving to see the students expressing their joy without hesitation and giving high-fives with each other with big smiles. I was able to see their changes.”

Additionally, the program was held at four different junior high schools in Tohoku; and six hundred sixty students joined. By participating in the program, the students learned to have confidence and to take a new step forward if they are willing to do it.
