Pre-departure session for Building the TOMODACHI Generation: Morgan Stanley Ambassadors Program

    BTG2023_Orientation (1)

On July 28, 2023, the pre-departure session of Building the TOMODACHI Generation: Morgan Stanley Ambassadors Program was held online with approximately 20 participants and stakeholders.

Ms. Miyuki Tani, Executive Director of Morgan Stanley, was the keynote speaker at the pre-departure session. In addition to sharing her own overseas experience with the participants, she gave words of encouragement to the participants, saying, “This program will give you a lot of opportunities.”

Next, Ms. Miho Yamanaka, Executive Director, Head of Japan Sustainability Office, and Ms. Azusa Koike, Vice President, presented a company overview of Morgan Stanley, which is a corporate supporter of this program.

The panel discussion, “Path to be a global citizen”, featured four internationally active Morgan Stanley employees. They shared how they came to their current careers. Then they discussed how their experiences abroad have had a significant impact on them. Finally, they offered advice to participants who will be joining the program and building their careers. After the panel discussion, participants moved to the breakout room for networking opportunity.

One of the participants, Mariko Yoshida, expressed her enthusiasm for participating in the program as follows: “I’m looking forward to learning about civil society and developing ways to combat social issues in Japan. I hope to apply what I learn from the program into my research and future career.”

Participants will travel to the U.S. in August to participate in a two-week training program in Washington, D.C. They will learn leadership and social problem-solving techniques, and are expected to be active international leaders when they return to Japan.
