IMG_1229On September 11, 2014, TOMODACHI Gold Star Roadshow 2014 has started, beginning with Yanome Elementary school in Fukushima City. The Young Americans are a group of talented performing arts students from the United States that conduct song and dance workshops throughout the world.  This Fall, 15 Young American cast members will be conducting workshops at public elementary and middle schools throughout the disaster affected areas of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures.

As of October 21 2014, approximately 1,500 students and 130 teachers participated in the workshop. By the end of the tour in November 2014, they would have conducted workshops with 3,000 students in 49 elementary and middle schools.

Voices from the students include: “I would like to know about overseas more through international exchanges”. “If I were able to speak English more, that would be great.”  “I am very happy that I knew I can sing and dance”. Here is the one of the voices from teachers. “I saw students’ new face”. “I will try to this experience into something positive.” A month later, we would see more smile of kids, their parents, and teachers.
