TOMODACHI Award Winners at the 2nd University Venture Grand Prix Entrepreneurship Awards
Congratulations to Team CODDRESS and Team MOLCURE for winning the TOMODACHI Awards at the 2nd Annual University Venture Grand Prix Entrepreneurship Awards organized by METI (the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and the New Business Conference.
On December 22, 2013, these two teams emerged as winners of the TOMODACHI Awards and will have the opportunity to travel to Silicon Valley to meet and pitch their ideas to influential startups and venture capitals in March 2014.
Team CODDRESS from Osaka University developed a new code system to mask postal addresses so online shoppers can purchase items online safely without having to worry about their postal address being known to e-commerce sites they may transact with. Wang Wei, core member of Team CODDRESS, announced that their idea will “change the world!” as he revealed plans to expand to the United States and China once their idea takes off in Japan.
Team MOLCURE was represented by Ryu Ogawa from Keio University and Eli Lyons from the University of Tokyo. They developed Abtracer, an antibody sequence screening system, which can detect antibodies faster and more accurately than ever before by using a new sequencing system. Many in the science and technology industry are already hailing their research as new breakthrough technology that will change the way we discover new antibody candidates.
Out of 100 teams that applied, nine were chosen to present their ideas at the UVGP Competition. Two teams were selected to receive the the TOMODACHI Awards.
