Alumni from the TOMODACHI SoftBank Leadership Program Gather in Sendai
Approximately 90 TOMODACHI Summer SoftBank Leadership Program participants from Summer 2012 and 2013 gathered in Sendai, Miyagi for a full day of reflection, teambuilding, and social business plan development on November 17, 2013.
The morning started off with a reflection session, with the students refreshing their memories of the three weeks they spent on the UC Berkeley campus learning about leadership and how to take action to reenergize their Tohoku home communities. In the afternoon, the students split up into regional teams to brush up their social business plans that they had come prepared to present to a panel of advisors comprised of business representatives, nonprofit representatives, and local community leaders.
Lively conversations followed each presentation and the advisors were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the students’ presentations. The top three presenters were awarded prizes at the end of the day, and all headed home happily with a renewed resolution to take their teams and their social business ideas to the next level.
