TOMODACHI Women Leaders Embark on Journey of Self-Discovery
Don’t sell yourself short! That message echoed throughout the second meeting of the TOMODACHI Women’s Leadership Program, which pairs 20 college-aged women with 20 mid-career professional women in Tokyo. In the first of three professionally facilitated sessions on September 13, 2013, the participants collaborated in groups to discover their own latent leadership potential. Participants and mentors engaged in a 3-hour journey that centered around self-reflection and constructive discussions about how to engage with peers and supervisors in a professional setting.
This program, which the TOMODACHI Initiative manages together with support from U.S. Embassy Tokyo’s Public Affairs and Economic sections, is currently expanding to the Kansai region thanks to the efforts of Consulate General Osaka.
