Alumni from the TOMODACHI Summer 2012 Programs attended the TOMODACHI BEYOND Tomorrow Global Leadership Academy 2013 from March 8-10, 2013 in Tokyo.

Seventy students were chosen from the 500 students who studied in the United States on a TOMODACHI Summer 2012 Program and participated in a 3-day workshop in which students discussed and studied the global agenda, and what the youth can do to contribute to society.

On March 10, the students gave 3-minute presentations to close to 200 people consisting of government officials and business leaders on how students associations can help to solve global issues such as hunger and obesity, clean water, and energy.  This event was supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

    Voices of the TOMODACHI Generation

BT-GLA-Yohei-Noji“At the Academy, I was able to watch the students grow.  At first, the students were not discussing specifics on topics that were given to us.  However, as they met with different speakers and mentors, they began to discuss and ask questions such as, ‘What are things that we can do? Specifically, what can we do? When will we do it by?’ Although it was only for 3 days, the students were able to enjoy these discussions and grow as a person.  It was a wonderful experience for them and for me.”
                                          – Yohei Noji, Hitotsubashi University, Graduate student, University Leader
