    group4 (2)

Ten American delegates representing Boston, Chicago/Detroit, Honolulu, Nashville, and the State of Texas met each other for the first time attending an orientation program in Los Angeles on May 16-17, 2014.  The two-day meeting served as a platform for interactive engagement with speakers who updated the group on Japanese economic, social, and political issues, climaxed by an informal dinner reception hosted by Jun Niimi, Japan Consul – Los Angeles Jun Niimi.

223Held at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM), the museum is designed to give perspective, promote understanding and appreciation of America’s ethnic and cultural diversity by sharing the Japanese American experience.   The group will travel to Fukuoka and Tokyo the week of June 23.

Generously funded by Mitsui & Co. Ltd., the TOMODACHI-Mitsui & Co. Leadership Program is designed to play an important role in building a “TOMODACHI generation” of creative thinkers and driven doers who are invested in the future of U.S.-Japan relations, understand and appreciate cultural differences, and possess the globally oriented skills and mindsets needed to thrive and make a difference.
