On December 23, 2013, a contest and workshop was launched for the TOMODACHI Job Shadow Challenge Program at Finance Park in Shinagawa.  This program, sponsored by Federal Express, will send winners of the contest to Guam in March 2014.

 

Thirty junior high school students from Iwaki City, Fukushima were paired and created a poster and 5 minute presentation on a sightseeing tour and plan to bring tourists from Guam to Iwaki City or Fukushima prefecture.  Within half a day, the students also researched about Guam and it’s tourism industry.  Volunteers from FedEx who supported the students with their presentations mentioned that they were very impressed with the students’ motivation to help build the future of Iwaki.

 

The presentations were rated based on the students: idea, presentation skills, appeal of the poster, teamwork, and communication ability.  Five of the highest scoring teams were selected to go to Guam from March 30-April 2, 2014.
