Top business executives, government officials and non-profit leaders convened at the U.S.-Japan Council’s Japan Symposium during the last week of May in Tokyo. The symposium focused on investing in the next generation of leaders from Japan and the United States and featured speakers including Fast Retailing’s CEO, Tadashi Yanai, and Salesforce.com’s CEO, Mark Benioff. During the panel discussion, James Kondo, Managing Director, East Asia at Twitter, said "TOMODACHI is the best thing to happen to the Japanese education scene in a while." More »

The TOMODACHI Initiative and J.P. Morgan have announced the TOMODACHI NGO Leadership Program supported by J.P. Morgan, which is a multi-year commitment to support capacity development of Japanese NGOs, building upon the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. The ongoing program kicked off this year when ten Japanese NGO leaders traveled to Washington, DC from April 28 – May 4 and had an opportunity to represent Japanese NGOs at the Annual InterAction Conference. World Gardening Fair at Hotel Okura Tokyo for TOMODACHI |

From May 1-5, 2013, Hotel Okura Tokyo hosted the World Gardening Fair, which showcased gardens designed by the wives of ambassadors stationed in Japan. Featured flowers originated from ten different countries around the world.
A portion of the proceeds from the gardening fair was donated to the TOMODACHI Initiative. More » |
